Winning the trust of a community is no small feat, but Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln has done just that -- earning the Reader Favourites Award for Best New Car and Used Car Dealer in the most recent Guelph Today vote.

Recognized for their ongoing commitment to customers service, the dealership's win reflects the loyalty and appreciation of locals who have made Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln their go-to destination for buying and servicing their vehicles.

It's a badge of honour that the family-owned and operated dealership is grateful to accept.

"It's really special that this is voted on by the public," said Doug Bricknell, Operations Manager at Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln. "It shows that the community we serve has confidence in us. We are honoured and grateful because that is what we strive to achieve. To be a place people feel welcome, comfortable, and confident they're dealing with people who will treat them the way they deserve to be treated."

According to Bricknell, the team at Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln makes a conscious effort to ensure their customer services is welcoming, informative, and genuine. Although they're in the business of selling cars, Bricknell says everyone at the dealership understands that's it's not just the sale that keeps guests coming back.

"We make a lot of intentional efforts to ensure the guest experience as positive as it can be, including ongoing Guest Experience training," he said. "At some dealerships, the goal is to be the biggest or to make the most money or sell the most vehicles. For us, the most important thing truly is the confidence, support, and satisfaction of the community. If we achieve that, we can take comfort in the fact that we're doing the right things. That's part of being local and living and working in the same community as our guests. We know we're going to see them around town. We don't want to have to worry when we run into someone at the grocery store or at an event."

Being a positive member of the community also means getting involved and taking action. One current example of that action is the dealership participating in the World's Largest Dealer Food Drive initiative with Ford Motor Company. According to Bricknell, the Ford Motor Company celebrates its Global Caring Month each September, an occasion that mobilizes thousands of Ford employees and dealerships worldwide to engage in vital projects that address pressing needs in communities where they live and work. The World's Largest Dealer Food Drive is hoping to raise one million pounds of food that will be distributed through the local communities where donations are collected.

"Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln is proud to participate in this initiative," said Bricknell. "We will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items and hygiene products from September 15th until October 4th to help support the Guelph Food Bank and those in our community who need it most as part of their "Harvesting Hope" fall food drive.

The finale of this campaign will culminate at the Guelph Storm on Saturday, October 4th during the annual Wayne Pitman Ford Fall Food Drive game. We will be onsite outside the Old Quebec Street Mall and Sleeman Centre to collect donations. Special shout out to Brent Johnson for all of his dedication to organizing this partnership with the Storm.

We invite the entire community to join us by bringing in any donations they are able to offer to our location at 895 Woodlawn Road West in the Guelph Auto Mall during business hours or to the Guelph Storm Game / Old Quebec Street Mall area on Saturday, October 4th."

The 1 Million pound milestone goal can be easily achieved if 5,000 Ford dealerships globally collect 200 pounds of food, although Bricknell says they hope to surpass that goal and bring in as much food as possible prior to the high-demand Thanksgiving season at the Guelph Food Bank.
